Privacy Policy

Valiuz may process personal data concerning individuals who are customers ("you") of its partner merchants (hereinafter referred to as "Merchant") for purposes such as improving the customer experience (customer insights, personalized advertising, and offers).

This policy aims to provide you with detailed information on how Valiuz processes your personal data within the scope of the various services it provides to Merchants.

1. Services provided by Valiuz to merchants

As part of the services it provides to Merchants, Valiuz may process your personal data as a processor (within the meaning of the GDPR) for the Merchants. In such cases, Valiuz acts exclusively on behalf of and under the instructions of the Merchants, who are the controllers (within the meaning of the GDPR).

  • Valiuz may process your data as a processor when a Merchant requests a specific service on its own customer database (e.g., performing statistical analyses, providing IT tools enabling the Merchant to process your data...) and/or requests the provision of advertising services (so-called “Retail Media”).

These data processing activities are carried out for the following purposes:

    • Statistics: Valiuz conducts statistical studies to help Merchants better understand the expectations of their customers, enabling them to evolve their business and offerings. These analyses are anonymous (results provided in an aggregated format).

    • Personalization and Advertising Performance Measurement: Valiuz helps personalize advertisements displayed on the websites, mobile apps, and other advertising spaces of Merchants (email, SMS, samples, coupons…) or on third-party sites and platforms (including media websites, social networks, segmented TV…).

  • It is the responsibility of the controller, i.e., the Merchant to whom Valiuz provides its services, to inform you about these data processing activities and, where applicable, to obtain your consent. Valiuz complies with the privacy policy defined by each Merchant.

  • Only the data you have provided to the Merchant, a client of Valiuz, is processed by Valiuz. This may include all or part of the following data:

    • Information you provided to the Merchant when creating your customer account (e.g., age range, location, gender…),

    • Your purchase history on the Merchant's website and in physical stores,

    • Your online browsing data (pages visited, most viewed products, etc.) if you have consented to cookies on the Merchant's website.

The data is retained by Valiuz only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes mentioned above and is then deleted in accordance with the retention policy defined by the Merchant.

2. Digitalization Service of the Customer Account Opened with a Merchant

By accepting the Valiuz cookie when browsing a Merchant’s website, you allow Valiuz and the Merchants to digitalize your customer account, meaning creating a "digital profile" using your browsing data.

A cookie is a small computer file or tracker that is placed and read on your device (computer, smartphone, etc.), for example, when visiting a website, reading an email, or installing a mobile app. Cookies can be used for various purposes.

  • With your consent, Valiuz can place its cookie and the cookie of its partner, the company Mediarithmics, when you browse a Merchant’s website in order to:

    • Recognize you during your browsing sessions,

    • Collect your browsing data (pages visited, products viewed, products added to your cart, products purchased) and link it to the data related to the customer account you created with the Merchant,

    • Offer you personalized advertisements and offers based on your browsing behavior,

    • Create a digital identifier that can be synchronized with identifiers provided by other partners to enable the display and performance measurement of targeted advertising (see "Who are the data recipients?").

Valiuz is responsible for these data processing activities, jointly with the Merchant who authorizes the placement of the Valiuz cookie on its website (see "key points of the joint responsability agreement between Valiuz and each merchant").

Valiuz participates in the IAB Europe framework (“Transparency & Consent Framework”) and complies with the resulting rules and policies. Valiuz’s registration number within this framework is 1270.

  • Your browsing data is collected only if you have consented to the Valiuz cookie.

Your consent is collected via the "cookie banner" (“Consent Management Platform”) available on each Merchant's website.

  • Solution: Valiuz

Nom du cookie: vlz_uid / vlzc

Cookie lifespan once placed: 13 months

    Solution: Mediarithmics

    Nom du cookie: mics_vid / mics_lts / mics_uaid

Cookie lifespan once placed: 13 months

3. Multi-Brand Experience Offered by Valiuz Through a Unique Customer Profile

The multi-brand experience allows you to benefit from tailored offers and advertisements by reconciling the customer profiles you have created with the various Merchant partners participating in the multi-brand experience.

  • If you have consented, Valiuz reconciles the customer profiles you created with the different CMerchant partners of the multi-brand experience, by creating a unique customer profile that aggregates all your data around a unique identifier.

This unique customer profile is used by Valiuz for the following purposes:

    • Statistics: to improve the understanding of consumption trends, customer expectations, and thereby contribute to the evolution of Merchants' activities.

Valiuz conducts statistical analyses that enable Merchants and their partners to better understand their customers’ expectations, allowing them to adapt their business and offerings. These analyses are anonymous (results provided in an aggregated format).

For example, with a better understanding of local territory and expectations, a Merchant can identify the best location to open a new store and adjust its product offering accordingly.

    • Enhancement of Customer Knowledge: To improve the content and messages offered to you based on your profile and consumption behavior.

Using your unique customer profile, Valiuz can deduce information that allows for the segmentation of customer data from each Merchant where you have a customer account ("profiling").

This enables the Merchants with whom you are a customer to better understand your purchasing behavior and interests, conduct statistical studies, or tailor the content of the communications they send you (if you have consented to these communications): your preferred shopping method, the time of day you prefer to browse for new products, the products that interest you...

Example: Do you usually browse high-tech products online but prefer to purchase them in-store? Instead of offering you exclusive web deals that don't interest you, the Merchant will suggest a promotion valid for such products in the store closest to your location (provided, of course, that you have expressed your preferences to the Merchant for receiving this type of communication).

    • Improving customer insights: to enhance the content and messages offered to you based on your profile and consumption behavior.

Using your unique customer profile, Valiuz can infer insights that allow for the segmentation of customer data for each Merchant where you have a customer account ("profiling").

This helps Merchants, where you are a customer, better understand your purchasing behavior and interests, conduct statistical studies, or adjust the content of communications sent to you (if you have consented to these communications): your preferred shopping method, the time of day you prefer checking out new products, the products you are interested in...

For example: Do you typically browse high-tech products online but prefer to buy them in-store? Instead of offering you online-exclusive deals that don’t interest you, the Merchant will propose a promotion valid for these products in the store closest to your home (subject, of course, to the preferences you have expressed to the Merchant for receiving this type of communication).

    • Personalized Ads and Offers (Ad Targeting): To tailor the offers and advertisements presented to you on all platforms (including websites, television, social media) based on your profile and consumption behavior.

Valiuz helps to customize the advertising banners displayed on the Merchants' platforms or on third-party sites and/or media (including media websites, social networks, segmented TV…) promoting the products and services of the Merchants or third-party advertisers (audience extension).

Example: Do you usually consume organic products? New organic products may be highlighted in the advertising spaces visible during your internet browsing.

Result: you will not see more advertisements, but they should be more relevant to your interests.

In this context, Valiuz also processes data to measure the performance of the displayed advertisements (impact on sales of the advertised products, impressions and click-through rates of the ads…) and to limit the number of impressions of these advertisements.

Valiuz acts here as a data controller under the GDPR, jointly with the partner Merchant that allows Valiuz to collect and process your data. The main points of the joint responsibility agreement are available below.

    • Personalized advertisements and offers (ad targeting): to tailor the offers and advertisements you see on any medium (including websites, television, social media) based on your profile and consumption behavior.

Valiuz helps personalize ad banners displayed on the Merchant’s platforms or on third-party sites and/or media (including media websites, social networks, segmented TV…) promoting products and services offered by Merchants or third-party advertisers (audience extension).

For example: Do you usually buy organic products? New organic products may be highlighted in advertising spaces visible during your web browsing.

Result: You won’t see more advertisements, but those you do see should better align with your interests.

In this context, Valiuz also processes data to measure the performance of the advertisements displayed (impact on product sales, impression and click-through rates of ads…) and to limit the number of ad impressions.

Valiuz acts as a data controller within the meaning of the GDPR, jointly with the Merchant partner that allows Valiuz to collect and process your data. The key points of the joint responsibility agreement are provided below. The key points of the joint responsibility agreement are provided below.

  • The creation of your unique customer profile is based on your consent.

This consent is collected by Valiuz through a dedicated consent window available when you log in to your customer account created with a Merchant partner in the multi-brand experience.

You can withdraw your consent or configure your preferences (to consent to only part of the processing) directly with Valiuz by clicking here or within your customer account created with a Merchant partner in the multi-brand experience.

  • Your unique customer profile combines the following data:

    • Information related to the customer accounts you have created with the various Merchant partners of the multi-brand experience: so-called 'CRM' data (e.g., age range, location...), purchase history (online and in-store),

    • Data from your browsing activity on the Merchant’s websites (e.g., pages visited, products viewed) if you have consented to the Valiuz cookie,

    • Publicly accessible data (open data) or data from databases provided by third parties who have obtained your consent (e.g., INSEE, La Poste, Naomi).

The data processed by Valiuz is pseudonymized, meaning it cannot directly identify you (your first and last names, email addresses do not appear in plain text; they are transformed into a random sequence of numbers and letters).

Valiuz also carries out processing aimed at improving data quality and contributing to its updating (e.g., correcting misspelled postal addresses, identifying individuals with outdated postal addresses to stop sending them communications).

Your phone number, email address, postal address, as well as your first and last names, are not shared among the Merchant partners of Valiuz.

  • Type of Data: Information related to your customer account created with the Merchant (e.g., age range, location...)

Retention Period: 3 years from your last interaction with the Merchant, in accordance with the retention policy defined by the Merchant

Type of Data: Purchase history with the Merchant

    Retention Period: 3 years

Type of Data: Data from your browsing activity on the Merchant’s website (e.g., pages visited, most viewed products, etc.)

    Retention Period:  13 months

  • Valiuz and each Merchant partner of the multi-brand experience have partnered to improve and share insights into consumption habits (statistical analyses) and to enhance the relevance of advertisements presented to you during your internet browsing (ad targeting).

To this end, each Merchant authorizes Valiuz to collect data concerning individuals who purchase products or browse its website (if you have consented to the Valiuz cookies).

This collaboration is established under a joint data processing responsibility agreement in compliance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"). The present document serves as a summary in accordance with Article 26 of the regulation.

For more information on the data processing carried out by Valiuz or to exercise your rights regarding the processing of data implemented by Valiuz, we invite you to consult the current "Privacy Policy" available on www.valiuz.com. You can configure your choices in your customer account with the Merchants or directly with Valiuz by clicking here

3. Who are the recipients of the data processed by Valiuz?

For the purposes of the processing activities and objectives defined above, certain data concerning you may be transmitted by Valiuz to different categories of recipients listed below.

Some of these recipients may be located outside the European Union. In such cases, Valiuz ensures that the necessary safeguards for securing such transfers are in place.

  • Valiuz shares certain data with the following partners:

    1. providers of IT services and tools that enable Valiuz to deliver its services (e.g., hosting providers), who act as its processors within the meaning of the GDPR.

    2. partners that connect you to a digital identifier for two main purposes: to link your internet browsing data to your customer account and to enable the display and performance measurement of targeted advertisements on digital platforms (internet, television).

Your cookie identifier may thus be transmitted to various technology partners for synchronization purposes. This synchronization process (also known as “cookie-matching” or “cookie sync”) establishes a connection between two different cookies (pseudonymous identifiers in the form of a sequence of numbers and/or letters) using a correspondence table, thereby identifying the same user behind these two cookies. This synchronization only facilitates the connection with various

technology partners responsible for delivering messages targeted to you.

The technology partners Valiuz works with for this purpose include:

  • Valiuz may authorize partners to use your customer profile to display tailored advertisements on their own platforms or on third-party platforms. No directly identifiable data is transmitted to these partners: only a pseudonymous identifier (a sequence of numbers and/or letters) associated with an audience (e.g., a list of identifiers related to buyers of eco-friendly products).

The partners involved fall into the following sectors:

1 - Media (including press and television), notably:

    2 - Communication Agencies, notably:

    3 - Advertising Agencies:

4 - Social Media Platforms, notably:

5 - Advertisers: These are providers of products and services that may interest you, which are marketed by the Merchants or by third parties.

  • Merchants with whom you are a customer and who participate in the multi-brand experience may receive, from Valiuz, information derived from the analysis of data you have provided to them, your purchasing behavior, and your browsing activity on their website (e.g., your preferred shopping method, the time of day you prefer to check out new products, the products that interest you...).

Your phone number, email address, postal address, as well as your first and last names, are not shared between Merchants.

4. How to exercise your rights with Valiuz?

You have rights over your personal data (objection/withdrawal of consent, access, rectification, data deletion, restriction of data processing, etc.). You can exercise these rights as follows.

  • Valiuz does not manage the communications (email, SMS, etc.) that may be sent to you by the Merchants: the choice to receive or not receive these communications is made directly with each Merchant.

If you wish to object to the processing of your data by a specific Merchant, you must exercise your right directly with that Merchant.

Valiuz Cookie: The configuration of the Valiuz cookie is done on the Merchants' websites (“cookie banner”). Unless you withdraw your consent for the Valiuz cookie, it will continue to collect browsing data that may be used to offer you targeted advertisements based on your online browsing behavior.

  • You can exercise all other rights granted to you by law (access, rectification, deletion of data, restriction of data processing, portability of data, instructions regarding the fate of your data after your death) by writing to the address: 67-83 Rue de Luxembourg, 59000 Lille, or by sending an email to mesdroits@valiuz.com.
